The following poems are by Sandy

Who sits in judgement on their fellow man,
You cry when you have to and laugh when you can.
Is the message reduced if dealt with a smile.
If laughter eases pain, even for a short while,
Then let it ring out,"allow" your tears to dry,
For you can still see the sun,if you really try.
The dark clouds of misery soon drift away,
If you let laughter in...it just might stay.....
We have day and we have night,
We have darkness and we have light,
We have sun and  we have rain,
We have peace and  we have pain,
Neither is right, and neither is wrong,
You just try for a balance as you journey on,

Sometimes we don't agree, for we are different you and me,
What we think, what we hear and what we see,
Does that make you right and me wrong?
Do we have to "agree" to get along?
We all walk a path, and we all "arrive" in the end,
Would you choose the company of an enemy,or that of a friend?
We are human, but should leave ego's at the door,
For we seek to help and grow, live not just for us anymore.
Sometimes we forget we as a group should unit,
Instead we disgree, we squabble and fight.
Is this the spiritual way?surely this isn't right...
We must put personalities aside, make the circle more tight!
If we ever hope to show others we practice what we preach,
Then a warm, loving "group" is still with in reach.....

MUM
Eyes that shone so full of love – a smile to melt your heart,
A feeling she was always close though we were far apart.
Hands so soft and gentle, a spirit brave and strong-
For she tackled every problem- whatever came along!
Sweetheart, companion, carer she was all to the love of her life-
Fulfilling more than expected to Jim in her role as his wife!
Nurturing us her children, giving all that she could give-
Weaving a tapestry of memories that will last as long as we live!
When God  chose her to be our mum He gave us many precious things-
And He showed us far above all else….not every angel has wings….

THE  ILLUSION
Look at me closely-tell me what do you see?
A wrinkled old lady?-well that isn’t me!
I am young and upstanding, with eyes crystal clear-
My words do not falter, every sound I can hear!
The hair on my head is as dark as can be-
Ninety-two?? Don’t be silly, middle-aged that is me!!
My hands are not twisted, my legs firm and strong-
I am not in a wheelchair, I can still walk along!
My clothes are so fashionable, my heels fairly high-
My family all around me- many friends still drop by!
I tend to myself, wash and dress every day,
I look after my needs in the usual way!
This is my home you tell me- but how can that be,
When the rooms are so different in my memory!
This old lady you tend to once had a life of her own!
I brought up my children and now they are grown,
But is ME now that THEY comfort and tell “It’s alright”-
When my fears come to scare me in the still of the night!
My heart is still loving, my wit still as strong,
I haven’t outgrown my use…..maybe just lived too long!!!!
Just remember I’m a person  and as loved as can be-
So please treat me with kindness and let me keep my dignity……

We seek and we search, and we ponder and read,
When in truth we have all the knowledge we need.
Just "stored away" until the right time and place!
When people like "us" can enlighten our race.
Now IS that time for the re-grouping of souls,
To "lift" up this world...to reach all our goals!
To spread the word that the " light's" within reach-
And love and compassion is what we should teach!
That it is far better to try to help our fellow man,
To offer the hand of friendship whenever we can!
To lend a shoulder and not turn your back,
To lift someone up-help them back on the track!
If we lead by example and follow the "plan",
Then there is hope for our world....and our fellow man!!!

When you take on a pet  you know from the start,
It's not just a home you give,it is part of your heart.
They come with a nature so loving and true,
It's not what you own that counts, they only want you!
How do you measure this love and deep devotion?
It is like asking how high the sky,how deep the ocean.
So brief are their lives and are over too fast,
But don't dwell on your loss for the  memories will last,
They are just out of sight, never far away,
And you and your "friend"will be re-united one day.

BALANCE
Who sits in judgement on their fellow man?
You cry when you have to and laugh when you can!

We have sun and we have rain,
We have peace and we have pain.
Neither is right, neither is wrong,

MY LIFE.
Look through my eyes and tell me what do you see?
How would you have lived my life if you had been me?
All the things I have had to deal with as I travelled along,
Some things I did right and some things I did wrong!
I tried not to hurt or offend, to be honest and true,
What would you have changed had it been you?
I have had laughter and joy, pain and sorrow,
Sometimes I have thought I can't face tomorrow!
Do you know what lies behind my smile?
How I have struggled, mile after mile,
Sometimes when the pain got really bad,
My humour and laughter was all that I had!
Sometimes we are wrong in what we think we are seeing,
Until you have walked in their shoes, don't judge another being......

WHY
Why do we look at the ground when we can see the sky?
Why do we ignore laughter, and instead choose to cry?
Why do we make an enemy when we could have a friend?
Why do we discount a heaven and think "death" is the end?
Why do we allow fear and hatred to occupy our heart?
When strength and love should fill the biggest part,
Why do we judge others only by what we see?
When they could be the best there ever could be!
Why do we see their faults and overlook the good?
Why do we see what we want instead of what we should....

DAD
Who is the old man that sits in a chair?
Lined is his face and white is his hair,
His speech slow and weak, all power has gone,
Arms and legs so frail, no longer strong.
Eyes that are pale, yet the blue is still there,
A mind that wanders- he will just sit and stare,
My father you say! but how can that be,
That I don't recognise him yet he still knows me!
But my dad's only forty, full of life and so strong,
When did this happen, when did it go wrong?
Where did the years go that took him away?
"Not "wrong"- just old age " I can hear you say,
So I look in the mirror and what do I see,
I'm a child no longer- middle-aged that is me!
If I let my mind wander through years that have flown,
I know  he has aged and this child has grown
For my heart still tells me it is my dad that I see,
And the child that I was he still sees in me!
For the years that have passed have not lessened the bond
It continues through this life and the one that's beyond!
We can still share memories, the pain and the laughter,
For he is still my dad, and I am still his daughter

Guardian Angel
When people ask you how you are and you can't reply "I'm fine"
Just reach out your hand to me and I will take it safe in mine
I will give you my support and try to quell your fears
I will enfold you in my loving arms and wipe away your tears
When all your skies are dark and grey and hope it all seems gone
I will encourage you and give to you the strength to carry on
When your burden grows too heavy and the weight has pulled you down
I will lift it on MY shoulders- and take it as my own
When you're feeling you are all alone and there is nothing you can do
Just remember I am with you and TOGETHER we'll come through

OUR PLANET

Why are we ruining our planet, the one we call our Earth?
We have set out to destroy her from the moment of our birth,
We desimate her forests,we poison all her air,
When she has shared with us her “treasures”,do we really think this fair?
We have plundered all her oceans, and the life sustained with-in,
We fight with Mother Nature in the belief that we can win,
We overcrowd her countries, and still relentlessly move on,
We have hunted all her creatures,so many now have gone,
We kill our fellow beings, through hatred and through greed,
Instead of offering the hand of friendship, and sharing what they need,
So is it littlee wonder that natures fighting back,
And instead of her protection, she has started to attack,
She send her winds to tear down buildings, her seas she over flows,
She is repaying all our liberties in the ONLY way she knows,
We wring our hands in horror and cry “What can we do?”
When the answer to the question is “Who is destroying who?”
